About the Index

Limelight is the newsletter of the Kingston Historical Society in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It has been published regularly (8 to 9 issues annually) since September 1999. Its precursor was called Then. The index covers issues from the present back to January 1992. Earlier issues of Then are beginning to surface and will be added as appropriate. These two publications include a wealth of information about the history of the Society and about a myriad of other topics of local historical interest.

In early 2020, KHS executive member Paul Van Nest tackled the work of scanning the pages of these two publications but, without an index, he reasoned that this work would be largely unusable. And so, he set about creating an author and subject index to the back issues of Limelight and Then. He refers to this task as a “COVID-19 project”. As a result of his hard work, the indexes and back issues of the newsletters can now be found under the Publications tab on the website of the Kingston Historical Society. They can also be searched directly from Digital Kingston—just click the links in the left-hand navigation pane.

Questions or comments about the index are welcome and can be directed to either the Kingston Frontenac Public Library or the Kingston Historical Society.
